Because we believe in the ability to positively change communities over time, we aim to work with the same communities year after year. GLA has established long-term relationships with community leaders. Our approach to service-learning ensures that all volunteer projects are part of a greater plan to improve the communities we touch.
GLA partners with grassroots organizations to meet each year’s specific community needs. Examples of past community service projects include:

• Caring for infants and toddlers affected by HIV/AIDS at a daycare center
• Planting community food gardens to provide fresh vegetables for local families
• Uplifting battered women’s spirits by painting murals at their shelter
• Running sports camps and activities for disabled youth
• Preparing food for a soup kitchen that serves impoverished adolescents
