India: Tibetan Refugees in the Himalayas
"Internal peace is an essential first step to achieving peace in the world. How do you cultivate it? It’s very simple. In the first place by realizing clearly that all mankind is one, that human beings in every country are members of one and the same family."
— His Holiness the Dalai LamaOverview
In 1960, the Dalai Lama left Tibet and establish a “government-in-exile” in Dharamsala, a town in the Indian Himalayas. Since then, thousands of Tibetan exiles have settled the area and it has become a center of Buddhist spiritual activity drawing visitors from all over the world.
